First Tour was in 1995

The Home Tour began in 1995 as a way to celebrate the designation of the Monticello Park Historic District that same year. The tour was on Mother’s Day and included an Art, Antique, and Craft Fair housed at Monticello City Park on Club Drive. It featured eight stunning homes plus the architecturally significant Thomas Jefferson High School. Over 1000 people from across the city attended the tour that inaugural year!

The tour was held annually until 2000, irregularly through 2008, then it was held every two years starting in 2008. From the beginning, the event was designed as a neighborhood fundraiser, with proceeds dedicated to beautifying the neighborhood and general expenses of the neighborhood association.  Since then, we have added a high school scholarship to that list, and we are proud to support many recent graduates in their quest for higher education.

The tour took a break during the COVID-19 pandemic, but returned in full force in 2023, just in time to celebrate MPNA’s 40th anniversary. Our visitors in 2023 were extremely engaged, and we were extremely proud to showcase our neighborhood to them.
